There was a wave in the middle the sea
That, like me, felt for no one-stopped for nothing
There was a bow that was buried underneath
The crushing depth, the blue vignette
That caught you sleeping
Bated breath on the open water
In perfect time with the rise and fall
Of the changing topography
Pressing on through the evening
The great swell would grow
It picked up speed
Thirty some feet of unrelenting forcing
A spiral walks up the wall of the lighthouse
Standing in the sand with the night owls
The watchman said to the sea
"You ain't got no heart
I really don't know why I sit by your bedside
I really don't."
The blue face avoided the beacon
Wrapped in the fog
Poseidon's arm revealed a weakness
As day breaks, love had turned me to an early bird
There on the rocks, quickly as it comes
It can leave us
A spiral walks up the wall of the lighthouse
Standing in the sand with the night owls
The watchman said to the sea
"You ain't got no heart."
The ocean looked at the man and said
"You got no power
I really don't know why you sit by my bedside."
There in my deepest sleep
I awake on a foreign shore and I find you
You're pulling me like the tide
And to my unconscious mind
It is here that I am most alive
I really don't know why you run to my bedside
I really don't
